Broyhill Events Center History

Built in 1973, the center was originally named the "Broyhill Center for Continuing Education." The initial construction was financed primarily by private donations. The Broyhill Center received its name from the Broyhill family of Lenoir, NC, who gave a substantial gift for the building. In April 1986, the name was changed to The Broyhill Inn and Conference Center to more accurately reflect the facility's dual function, accommodating the needs of both the university and the general public. In 2012, the facility was modified to more properly reflect the needs of University and became the Broyhill Events Center and served the campus for events, and programs. The facility is closed in 2013.
